The E-Drive system combines three functions in one: it acts as an electric motor to drive the vessel, a generator to charge batteries when the engine is running, and a hybrid interface to switch between modes automatically. Unlike separate generator + motor setups, it occupies minimal space, adds little axial length and integrates with the engine/gearbox directly.
The Integrel E‑Drive system combines a conventional inboard engine with an electric motor to provide flexible, efficient, and low-emission propulsion. It operates in multiple modes depending on your needs: the engine can idle, drive the vessel, generate electricity, or do both simultaneously, while the electric motor can take over completely for pure electric propulsion. This hybrid setup allows you to optimise fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and enjoy quiet, on-demand electric power.
A single-engine configuration (e.g., E-Drive 15 SE) delivers up to ~20 hp of electric drive and ~15 kW of power generation. Dual engine/multihull systems (e.g., E-Drive 30 DE) can deliver ~40 hp electric drive and ~30 kW generation.
Because E-Drive enables the engine to operate nearer its optimum efficiency while generating power, fuel consumption can drop significantly (typical figures ~25% fuel savings). Emissions are reduced thanks to less running of gensets/engines, and the electric drive mode is silent and vibration-free, improving onboard comfort.
The system is installed between the engine and gearbox (or sail/shaft drive) and typically adds less than 150 mm to the axial length of the powertrain. It’s compatible with both shaft and sail drive.
The E-Drive uses a 48 V DC system and integrates with modern lithium-ion or other high-capacity battery banks. It works via intelligent controllers that monitor battery state, engine load, throttle demand and automatically switch modes as required. Full system displays at helm show status, power usage and mode.
Ideal for luxury motor yachts, performance catamarans, new builds seeking hybrid/electric propulsion, and operators looking for reduced noise, emissions and fuel consumption. In particular, vessels that value “quiet at anchor”, “green credentials” or hybrid flexibility.
Routine maintenance is minimal. The system is highly integrated and automated. Support includes software updates, monitoring, and compatibility checks with batteries and control systems. A verified installer or service partner is recommended for servicing.
