Fischer Panda Electric Drive Systems for Boats with Power Outputs up to 150kW

The Silent Revolution.

There is hardly a more enchanting and natural experience than sailing a yacht quietly and peacefully with light wind in calm waters at moderate speed. This marvellous feeling has always been the envy of every motor boat owner. But motor-boat owners also benefit - the technology that drives modern merchant and naval vessels is now available for the smaller vessel - the feeling of effortless acceleration and noiseless manouverability simply by nudging a joystick is totally different to conventional diesel engine drives where peak power and torque are delivered by increasing the engine rpm to near maximum.

This has been brought about by a new concept. DE-Whisperprop is the new electrical drive system for boats. Instead of coupling the engine to the propeller shaft, a generator supplies power directly to an electric motor. The new Whisperprop drives are so quiet that they are practically inaudible at normal operating speeds. One has to experience at first hand the extremely low, almost inaudible noise and vibration when compared to traditional propulsion techniques. Very little noise is transmitted externally. Even noise from the exhaust can be completely eliminated.

The Principle Advantages of Electric Propulsion

  • Noiselss
  • Greater thrust through entire electric motor rpm range
  • Improved manoeuvring
  • Full steerage at all manoevring speeds
  • One generator can power multiple drives
  • Efficient supply for domestic on-board power demand
  • Interior layout design flexibility
  • Multiple control stations possible
  • Smaller boat 48V DC battery powered option
